Different Ranking system

I got bored and started looking into a different way of ranking people using each round played rather than finishing position.....ELO!

If you have never heard of it or want to know more, have a read here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elo_rating_system

Basically, each round you play, your score compared to every other player's score for that round, a fixture if you like. So if 50 players played a round, you would have 49 fixtures. If you score is better than your opponent, your rating goes up and if your score is worse it goes down. The amount depends on the difference between yours and your opponent's rating. The link has graphs which show this.

All people started at a rating of 1500 for week 1 and after the 1st quarter of the year finishing yesterday (week 13), here is how the ELO style ranking of all the players who have played at least 1 round looks:

A few examples:

Week 13 best round by points gained for each round:

R1 - RandyG (66) gained 14.49, just 0.01 more than Palvin.Ceete (68)
R2 - roande47 (63) gained 14.34, Palvin.Ceete was again 2nd best gaining 13.41 (66)
R3 - Often Rong (66) gained 10.85, just 0.03 more than BlackCat0315 (64)
R4 - Palvin.Ceete (67) gained 16.30 ahead of Often Rong (67) who gained 13.83

So as you can see, getting lowest score for the round doesn't mean the most points, my rounds gained under 8 pts per round as my starting rating was much higher.

Player of the event (gained most points over the 4 rounds) was OFTEN RONG a whopping 49.78 gained this week after finishing 3rd and starting 41st in the rankings..very well played. CALVIN.PEETE started the week ranked 93rd and gained 40.02pts to move to 58th.

Indeed, but as a pick me up, as I type this, your 1st round this week (14) is the 2nd best performance out of the 29 so far (pts gained wise)!! Keep it up!

19 points ahead in the Continental tour and winning almost everything you enter.

No, otherwise I would be doing something else. Never take winning for granted, some very good players here waiting for an off day.

Do generally miss one of the main events each week now though.
