Tournies trigger antivirus software

Post by Flyer01 »

Hi. I've been using Bitdefender antivirus on my laptop for about four months with no issues. Today while using PG my antivirus pop up a "blocked dangerous page" warning. The page is http://SimulatorGolfTour.com/api.php?ui ... 6aPKe3zvE= . The warning is only when I click on tournies and at the beginning of the page name it says api so I assume it has to do with recording my score. I'm just curious what might have changed and if it has happened to anyone else because I never had these warnings before. I played a round of Skillz and it recorded no problem.

That page has nothing to do with PGLS.

I would however suggest it is a false positive.

I've been getting alerts the last couple weeks when I first open the game . I use Bitdefender too. It's blocking the same page as Flyer has posted.

I do believe that site is Zmax's new replacement for OGT. Not sure why you would get flagged for that site when trying to access this one...

Somehow the two sites are interacting with each other.

Makes me wonder if that could be the reason for latest rash of dropped games and low fps.
Just wondering, no evidence to back it up.

Thanks for the replies. I was a bit worried that someone might be hacking me. From what TheOtherRick says it looks like its related to Zmax's api.

The sites don't interact with each other.

When PG starts up it loads API information from whatever sites have been added by the Devs (Andrew / Mike) and obviously PGLS is in that list.

BitDefender is seeing one of them as a threat and flagging it for some reason.

Interestingly enough I had issues with BitDefender blocking my PG Courses Checker program a while back, which prevented my program from working. In this case I had to an exclusion to stop BitDefender misreporting it.

That all sounds reasonable enough. My concern is that this is a new thing. Something has changed whether it's with Bitdefender or PG.

The link you specified is a fairly new one. SGT is for the sim players who want to play there and replaced OGT.

Did BitDefender specify what it found regarding the file?
