This week's Skilz

Post by whattashot »

Just when I thought it could never happen, this week's set up is the worst ever. Had a round where I missed EIGHT of 18 greens, and was pure luck I hit the other ten. And it was SOFT greens that bounced 35 feet and rolled like hard/hard. 24% power loss in the rough for 134 yard shot. Frickin' BS. Its closest to the pin. Not best mathematics!!! Then the second shot is 28% power loss. Why do we have to hit out of the rough anyway? And another round I missed SIX greens. I've been playing this game for awhile now, and sure as hell know how to hit a green. But not with this guy. (who by-the-way, doesn't even play his own tournament..it should be mandatory). Of course the top players manage to hit this crap. I swear they play in Multi-player and coach each other. God knows how they hold these greens otherwise.

This is the third week in a row with soft greens. I film everything. Went back and looked. Not ONE shot in three weeks to a soft green that had back spin. Think about that..not ONE.

Play your own damn tournament!! See if you can get in the top 20!

Last 3 weeks - 7 normal greens and 5 soft greens..don't see a problem with that?
The scores may be unrealistic, or even a joke but heyho, that's what we got.

Play well and enjoy your game everyone! :drinks:

btw, not a game for snowflakes.

NO backspin from soft greens..not ONE. Even from fairways. There is a problem with that. Go look at what we were hitting out of with soft greens. Sand or rough. See my point?

17th place is the 16th loser. So what? That's not the point. I don't care about standings. I thought this tournament was to hone your
short game. Keep getting longer and longer shots. This week there are at least 4 holes over 225 yards. Challenge tees...in the rough? Why can't the host just pick a spot on a fairway? Yeah, yeah, the course designer made the challenge tees. But the course designer didn't put pins behind trees, and 8 feet from a sand bunker that has a severe slope right over it. I'd say, that's something you need to have backspin for. Don't you? There is no backspin in this game above a PW. But that shot will be 180 yards out too. Shaking my head.

I've said it before, will say it over and over. Those who set up tournaments are catering to their buddies who have played for years, and have figured out (not going to go there) how to never miss a snap and never miss a putt. I pour over the stats you guys have. Constantly, even in windy, and stormy...'fairways hit' = 7/7. GIR 8/9. Total putts 11, and it goes on and on. I won't ever figure it out.

might not be...think duncanmathieson sets this up normally (well, has last 2 weeks i checked). I played r1...apart from playing crap, had no issues with it, was a challenging skillz.

Flopwood The course sets the pins and distances all the setter does is pick a coursre.(he doesnt know what the holes are going to be like the designer decides all that, the only other thing a setter does is choose the conditions and as Affo as already said for they were very fair.

The setters have a difficult job as it is...But when players moan consistently with out knowing the fact it becomes almost impossible. our setters are very good I wish I could say the same about some of the new players

So, I'm a new player? You know, if you have an issue with something, and never say anything, how will anyone know? I'm not moaning. I'm pointing out the absurdity of the some of these tournaments. Affo would say ice covered fairways and ice covered greens are okay. I understand that. He never misses a snap. Apparently he never hits a perfect snap in to a green and he's hitting it short to bounce on a hard fairway to a hard green, and his always bounce straight ahead. When I do it, they take a left turn in to a bunker. So his opinion here is moot. It doesn't count because he doesn't experience (along with about 20 others) anything like a moaner such as me does. Even when I hit a perfect snap.

Don't get me started on designers. How do they get out beta with some of the unfinished stuff? Today, we were playing this new Fall Lakes, which is supposed to be real course. It it is, the designer has made his own design, because no member there would play a fairway shot on #2 that can't stay on the fairway. I hit a perfect snap to within a foot of the left side of the fairway, and it ran to the rough on the other side.

I wasn't aware about who sets up everything, thanks for letting me know. So, its not a tough job, just go through a course list, find a settings that YOU like, like strong breeze, hard/hard ans submit it? Easy cheezy?

No more experience based information from me, don't want to be called a moaner. Geez, you guys are thin skinned.
