Playing the alt shot pairs tournies?

Post by jspirate »

If any of the pair teams would like to play more alt shot rounds, please let me or my partner know. Just in case there are any takers, I've set up a bunch of 9 hole ALT shot ladder CAGs (match play).

If not... hit em straight and have fun anyway! :drinks:

I wonder if a weekly Team knockout tourney would draw any interest? Plenty of teams active on the Pair-up tourney, just a matter of getting them to commit to a time. I'm dreaming, I know.

That sounds like fun... Maybe its just a phase, but right now I don't find a whole lot of fun in the the regular tournies. I do in the alt shot stuff though!

Pairs KO would be great if the selected time would fit for US, UK, and AUS players.

I doubt you would get enough players to participate. I think Division Pairs shows the lack of interest in additional pair tournaments.

Would it possible to have a format like the current 'It's a Knockout' but where the players of each team are randomly put together on the night from the pool of players checked-in?

Show up with a partner, or show up as a single looking for a partner.

I am fine with all options posted here, but to be honest, no one will just play an alt-shot pick up game when solicited here.

My cliff notes: why would anyone like Riddler bust ass to set up alt-shot tournies? Maybe just for the upside of the complaints they are guaranteed to get?

Show up with a partner, or show up as a single looking for a partner.
Show up as a single and have a randomly allocated partner. If that is even possible?

@jspirate - I was looking over the rules for the Divisions Pairs and noticed that as you/partner play your round you can also invite another team play. If they are in the Divisions Pairs, their score will also be recorded as if they played alone. Not match play, but still head-to-head alt shot or greensomes.

This might be a way to add a layer to the Cup format. Strictly optional, and no extra work for Alan.

example: if your team and mine are matched against each other in a later round of the Cup, we might agree to a foursomes match as a change of pace.
If this is already in place, and no extra work is required, the Cup settings for both Divisions and Pairs might be the place to promote these head-to-head matches.
