Black sky on Mac

Post by Gotallofthatone »

Hello,
Does anyone know how to fix a glitch with joining games that have dynamic skies.
Everytime I play in one my sky is always black.

Are you referring to one of our tournies ?

It's every game that has dynamic sky pre-set in the game, including all the rounds that PGLS sets up in the tournies.

I seem to recall Mike (MiMiC) mentioning this previously regarding MAC's causing this.

I will get him to reply here.

Hi,

I am trying to chase down some information on whether this is a problem which the Mac beta testers are aware of and of any fix or reasoning behind it.

I did search on Perfect Parallel's forum on the subject, and found one or two reports. Elsewhere, Andrew Jones of PP raised the possibility that it may be memory related.

Is it possible to give us the specs of your machine and hopefully I will have some more solid input to give once I hear back from a couple of messages I have sent out to those who should be 'in the know'.

Hi Mike,

I've uploaded a screen shot of my computer specs. Hopefully something can be determined by the information listed.

Thank you for your help,
Wayne

Hi Wayne,

Something I have heard from someone who had the same issue a year ago....

Try switching the control for pause render from what you have at present to whatever it is not. That seemed to be the issue which sorted it out for them.

Hi Wayne,

Thanks for the specs. Looking at that card, I see it has a limit of 512mb of onboard memory. I wonder if that could be at the heart of the problem, with PG being graphically intensive, and a 'skybox' being a large aspect of the overall load which would be amongst those last to be loaded into memory.
