Amateur's, Sandbaggers just maybe?
I know for some it takes a while to move up the ranks, but "Amateur's" with for example say four years of game play and still not a Pro or higher is a slap in the face to those who put forth their best to succeed. Come on Junior class, step up, and show everyone that you do have the skill to sustain greatness. No one likes an underachiever, and to hold back just to get the upper hand on the competition shows a lack character and good gamesmanship.

this stuff used to bother me, but it does no good to even worry yourself with it
people will be people and some just will never come off the easy modes.
reminds me of just the other day I will not mention the name but I jumped into a MP game another had put up
now this player has been at the game for quite a while and here he is playing hacker custom, and made a comment to me in the chat window
should I set this up for match play instead of stroke and his next comment made me think I was being set up and used to just inflate his ego. i said stroke is just fine and he responded well I don't want to make you cry to much. well after the 18 holes was over I was 7 under and he was 3 over. some folks will never learn the game they just come around to kill time and be social.

The amount of hours each person can play varies. I didn't like being upgraded to Tour Pro three years ago after being a Pro for 2 years. That said, no matter what level you may be there are thousands of hours of "focused practice" involved if you are aiming for the top 10 on any given leaderboard. However. Even if people put in thousands of hours there are limitations due to hand-eye coordination and/or physical disabilities.
On the other side of disabilities is the opportunity for many gamers to play and play and play and become very good, if not the top players on leaderboards.
Once you've accumulated 1,500 hours of play you will find your shots being more accurate and your reflexes will be smoother and less jerky.
We all know how you feel because we've been there, in many cases, since day one of JNPG.
Best of JNPG gaming to you.

Re: Amateur's, Sandbaggers just maybe?
Hi WTFRU115 please don't put all players in the same basket, I'm not saying thier a no sandbaggers because there are but there are players who for one reason or another are stuck at amateur. I've been playing PGLS 4 four years but still find my average only 73.13 it is on the way down but am along way off 68. that you need to be moved to pro. I am 73 years old and struggle with the snap. My main problem though is my putting and my consistancy. Having said all that its so frustrating to have a score of -10 like I have done in this weeks PGA18 only to see another Amateur score -17 after just 2 rounds. Take a look at the Stats for Nov for instance and there are others with better average than me. but I havent ruled out a move up in 2021 even though it gets harder as i get older. There are others of my age still playing and some have health problems but still enjoy this game as I do.

yes i should have also posted I play every day with a gal in her 70s and she plays ama
age does have a lot to do with it along with disabilities. today we were playing and she told me she has tried pro
and did not do all that well, my response was play what you are comfy with after all it is just a game, and we are
only here for the entertainment value.

Re: Amateur's, Sandbaggers just maybe?
The level system used by PG is fair. If someone can play consistently with a score way above the average player in there tier then he should move up because that player is stopping other players from doing well..We had this problem a year ago when some members felt that you should be able to play at a level of your choice in the PGLS Tour, it was put to the vote and and members voted that all should play in thier nominated Tier.
Some time back I felt so frustrated at getting nowhere playing as a ammi and (and at the time my scoring warranted it) that I took the option to drop to Hacker, within weeks I knew it was a mistake as it was too easy and I was at the top all the time and after a month I moved back up to Ammi. The scored boards also need to reflect what tier a player is in, It looks bad seeing an ammateurs in the top ten above Tour Pros.
I hope to eventually move up to Pro even though I know I would find it difficult but then it will be a new challenge to face each week.

scoring quite a bit, I also noticed you have been doing the pairs tourneys with Dunc and he is a good player
I am guessing you have been learning a lot from your partnership with him.
good job Paul just play what you are comfy with

Re: Amateur's, Sandbaggers just maybe?
Thanks Dave. Yes playing the pairs competitions with Dunc and in other tours as been a great help and encouragement. One of the reasons I enjoy playing alongside a human opponant rather than playing the game solo. Its very easy when playing solo and having a bad round to get discourage and loose patience with the game which only leads to a total loss of interest, this is less likely to happen when in a game with someone who's playing well because it can often lift your game too.

My apologies goes out to those and "only" those who do their best, and you know who you are. Cheers.... For the rest who skirt the rules to advance their agenda, well you only lose respect at the end of the day. So, Step up and make the game more competitive and enjoyable for us all.
