Keep the game simple and honest

Post by Seasider47 »

Hi I’ve been playing PG now for around 6 years, I Love it for the choice of good courses, for its many varied games we have on PGLS and despite the bugs the game is realistic. I also like the levelling system built into the game. When joining PGLS all players are classed as Pros, that way your skills can be accessed and if need be its easier to move you down to Amateur than wait for the system to move you up to the next level. Players will eventually end up in a group that matches their skills, some quicker than others. The levelling system depends very much on the honesty of the player which is why I’m posting this in the forum.

Occasionally you get a player who tries to bend the system to their needs making it unfair for others, I won’t mention any names at the moment but I am sure that some will know who I am speaking of. He very soon built up a large handicap in PG classics by scoring rounds in the 90s and by taking 10 or 12 shots in some holes. But in other games he could score quite low. He built up a handicap of +11 at one time and then started consistently winning. He built up his average game to very close to being promoted to Pro but requested a move up just before.

He obviously didn’t like playing at Pro because not long after he requested to be dropped down to amateur again. Since then he steadily rose through the ranks by winning but still maintained a high level handicap (unfortunately this led to him scoring under the limit of 252 and placed in the Handicap assessment area. He was eventually at the end of last year promoted back up to Pro level but once again he started to record very high scores and has just been dropped to Amateur again. In fact having made an average of under 70 a game he now is shown as being over 83 per game. Lol he could in fact have been dropped to Hacker. Which shows that the player has no principles and will do anything to stay in the level that suites him.

On his first week at Amateur he looks set to win the PGA 9 Tour and once again using his +10 handicap could help him to win the PG Classic tour. This attitude by a player is a disgrace and unfair on other players and I appeal to those responsible to stop this from happening. It will take weeks for the players average to move up from 83 to 70 before he gats promoted again and how many unfair wins will he knock up in between. The PGLS levelling system is good but only if a player is honest.

As I have said on numerous occasions about this same player you are speaking of.
as we have had this same conversation before a few times and I believe he has also been warned before about this
and paid no attention to the warning. I believe maybe the mods should be discussing this in the mods forum and maybe take a vote
on whether he remains to play this childish way he plays or just removing him from the tourneys altogether. and never having to hash this out again.
TBH I view this kind of thing to be a major ego issue, and we are here to relax have fun and enjoy a game we all like
not help people with their inner issues they should maybe be seeing a specialist about.

So why do you allow this to happen?

But, why? LOL. Jeez, does his spouse give him a happy ending with every tournament win or something? Is he that sad and lonely?

Iknow who you are talking about he is making a mockery of the game and should either be kicked or remain at pro level no matter what his scores are

As do I. After being warned once about "working the system", that warning should have been enough. People like this need to be banned. No more warnings - ban him.

This should be the way it is for anyone who gets warned "one time" for doing something here at PGLS that is obviously "outside the system". :rtfm:

Got a feeling there may be a promotion to TP for at least 1 player for April.
The scores may be unrealistic, or even a joke but heyho, that's what we got.

Play well and enjoy your game everyone! :drinks:

btw, not a game for snowflakes.

Let's face it, we all know who this is and I believe that if something isn't done soon, then it may be best to leave PGLS and find something else to spend our time with. The fix here should be to just turn on ALL HANDICAPS and let the player decide whether or not he/she will be honest with themselves.

I did not name the player inrelation to this thread but as Pogo is consistantly playing above the level and has no intention of rectifying it then so be it. Twice he has been moved up to Pro and twice he has played so badly that he had the chance to drop. It is pathetically obvious that he is a better player than is level shows but because he has sco9red so badly purposely it might take some time before the move, (Why he cant just be moved due to the evidence availlable i'll never know. I am on the verge of being promoted and hoped to have made the most of my short time left at Ammi but no chance of that with this cheat about, for instance last we on PGA18 I had played well and was leading by a short magine when on the last day Pogo played all four rounds with a score doubling that of mine, so have took a back seat this week just so this is not repeated. But it is not just my rounds that he is affecting but every other AMMi as well. Well he will be moved up soon and I'm assured he wont be moving down again.
