Newbie Questions

Post by Niblick47 »

Even thought I've been playing this sim for over a year now, I still feel like there is a lot I don't know and am still learning. I would ask these questions over at the Perfect Parallel Forum, which I visit daily, but it seems like now all they do over there is snipe and criticize each other. I really don't understand that as I thought we all just played the game for enjoyment and fellowship. I understand from reading over there for several months that the game has essentially been abandoned by the original developers, which is a shame, as it is a great sim for golf in my opinion, I love the game and appreciate sites like this that keep it alive.

My questions in case anyone would like to offer an answer:
-I see an option for a black glove in the game but I've never seen one either on my player or any recorded player. I assume that option just doesn't work?
-I use the 64 Wedge but how does one control the backspin? Sometimes it will backup 40 feet, other times only 5 feet, and sometimes not at all. Is there any way to determine or control it?
-I have yet to play online, not knowing how to do it. I played Links for many years and I remember what a pain sometimes it was to hook up online. Is PG just as difficult?

Thank you in advance for any answers or advice.

ok, the first question for some reason the black glove quit working a while back.
the 64 wedge is the main getter of backspin what I do is I only use it from around 60 or so yards out with low back spin on it
I use the next wedge up and just hit them easy for them 70 something shots.
as for mp, it can be slow for new folks till you find some regulars to play with if you use voice chat it is much easier to
get a game PGLS has a discord room where you can find others to play mp games with.
i have a steam chat room where you could also find a mp game when people are on it we got 17 members on there now and games are easy to find 8 cent time and then again late afternoons. if you want to try it send me a friend request on steam and I will send you an invite.
hope that answers a few of your questions

As Dave says the only way to avoid a spin is to go up a club. For instance if your reqired distance is around 77 yds then take the 105 yard and adjust the distane. There are other ways to get a multi play game in PGLS. On Wednesday night we run a mid week challenge game, around 12 of us team up in groups of two or three and play 9 holes, meet in Meet and greet 7.30 UK time. On Thursday night we have a pairs competition same 7.30 start UK Time bring a friend and on Sunday night & pm UK time We have a knock out competition 1 against 1 match play. all are welcome to join these games.

Also, re backspin, the softer the ground the more it will grip and of course whether you land onto an uphill or downhill slope. Also the ball you use leads to more or less spin. I play with the default ball (not sure what name that is) and I get less spin than my online pard jmk who uses the other one.
The scores may be unrealistic, or even a joke but heyho, that's what we got.

Play well and enjoy your game everyone! :drinks:

btw, not a game for snowflakes.
