As you can see the fairways end well before the fairway bunkers and trees.

Here's an overhead of the same parallel holes in google maps. You can see the fairways go all the way up to the bunkers and appears to actually go all the way up to the treeline.

I'd have to agree with your assessment. Skunky is usually a very accurate designer, but maybe in this case he didn't use lidar data. I still like playing his courses.

Agreed. I set it up, I hope, with fair pins and conditions for the very long holes. I look to combine challenging pin placements without being unfair from a golf perspective. Par is fair, birdie is a bonus.

There's no deep rough near the fairways so it shouldn't be bad.

Yeah, nothing like hard greens and tucked pins to help with the 20-30% missing fairways.

Touche! You did not. For my part I proceeded to slice my tee shot on one into the trees so the missing fairways were irrelevant, lol

Looking at the first batch of scores and I didn't do so bad. SA is probably one of the harder TPC courses anyway. I lived in San Antonio for 10 months back in 2008 before I made Denver my home.

The course is on the edge of the hill country and the undergrowth in that area is very rocky and there's these little thick bushes all over the place. Also one of the native trees are short and squatty so good luck punching under those.

Hill country Texas is underrated for it's beauty. A lot great hiking and camping, Especially around Austin.
