It's a damn shame how nearly impossible it is to get out of these pot bunkers.
I played St Andrews Old and New back in 2019. Hit 7 pot bunkers got out of all 7 first try. I even plobbed 3 balls in the middle of the road hole bunker and got all 3 out first try. None of them were great but I was able to get enough loft to clear the lip. Not in this game.

My real HCP is higher than yours so not saying you are wrong, and I have not even played pot bunkers irl But is it not very dependent of how far you are from the front wall of the bunker? From what I seen on tv the pros often have to play out sideways if they are less than say 2 meters away, and that is about the same in PG. I do envy you playing St Andrews, must have been a great feeling? I started too late to even dream of trying that :)

I literally just said I hit 3 balls out of the road hole bunker. I think it is caused by early collisions on the blend that makes up the bunker face. The ball angle certainly looks like it should clear half the time.JoeMen wrote: Thu Apr 01, 2021 8:51 pm My real HCP is higher than yours so not saying you are wrong, and I have not even played pot bunkers irl But is it not very dependent of how far you are from the front wall of the bunker? All it takes to get out of a pot bunker IRL is a 60 degree wedge and open the face. Now getting it close to the hole is a whole other game, I can't help you there.

When it's right against the face that's different. I'm talking about middle of bunker with fully lofted 60
I would never complain about balls that roll up to the face. All "I'm saying is I was able to get out from perhaps the most famous and definitely deep pot bunker (road hole)
