The Quaries

Post by Seasider47 »

Just completed this weeks Continental Tour at the Quarries. My first time on this course but had heard it was a tough one. It was certainly difficult and was relieved to get round the tour in Par but at the same time really enjoyed the challenge. Thanks to the setters and all involved in the PGLS Tour.

I'm right there with you Paul. I'm at -1 after two rounds and had to drop some late rounds birdies to get there.

Being a fantasy course I had the choice on all conditions. As I was plotting the pins I knew this one would soon be used at PairUp9 scramble because it is a very tough course. Kept the greens, fairways and stimps at reasonable conditions and only used wind because the American Tour had plenty of it. Glad you enjoyed the challenge.

Definitely quite a challenge this one and you really need to play your shots strategically. I've found any errant shots get punished.

Totally agree, great set up so far (2 rounds played). I have played a bit bullish when probably should have been a bit more tactical, but if you're just off you are punished correctly. I missed a couple of fairways in r1 and was in sand and having to play short of the green in 2, no guarantee of getting on the green and making a bird like a lot of courses.
The scores may be unrealistic, or even a joke but heyho, that's what we got.

Play well and enjoy your game everyone! :drinks:

btw, not a game for snowflakes.

You European weenies had 10mph winds max and nothing over 12 stimp. The men of America are hitting a 276 yard club in to 16mph winds off the tees and can't get to the short stuff, plus there are 5 par 4s of 480 yards or more, 4 of them 500+, one just 6 yards shorter than the next hole a par 5, and every one of them in to the wind. Watched the pros play the same course for two days, and nothing like we had to endure. When they hit a 75 lofted shot, even on those lightening fast greens...guess what?...the ball didn't hit 5 feet from the cup and then bounce 10 yards...it STOPPED. What a concept!
