Is PG Dead

Post by Riddler »

Getting so tried of reading this crap over at PP that I posted this yesterday:

PG is far from dead but only as long as we keep players coming. PGLS now requires people to join PGLS to download courses and we get new players signing up every day. Sign ups started 3/5/21 and as of 4/16/21 151 new players have been added. Many will say with no new courses and bugs in the game, it will not last. There are over 460 courses available so plenty to choose from. I still think it is the best golf game ever. As long as PGLS is around and PG is available on Steam I think we have many more years to play.

Logged in tonight 18 in the lobby , apart from PGLS tournies i would say the game is slowing becoming a dead game . Pity its a great game but it needs more players head to head games are non exsistint can only get a game when friends are online . Free weekend or free to play is the only way we can get more players.

I consider PG far from dead. Tours on PGLS are still well supported, We are still getting new players joining. We have a lot of excellent courses. We have the Ryder Cup competition to look forward too as well. You only to look at Links 2003 that still exists after all these years to realise just what is possible. Most of all it is the loyalty of many of our players who week in and out continue to play because they know there is still no golf game to touch the realism of PG.

Oh no, only 17 this morning..on a workday morning in the UK and US still in bed :)
The scores may be unrealistic, or even a joke but heyho, that's what we got.

Play well and enjoy your game everyone! :drinks:

btw, not a game for snowflakes.

Considering lots that play are retired or semi retired 17 isn't that good. At weekends I've seen the lobby go from 90 to about 30

The lobby does not always represent how many are playing. Yes, players, who want to have a game with others, is dwindling but at PGLS we have a strong fan base of players. I used to play with random players but I just don't have the time now and honestly I just got tired of the some players who either don't take the game seriously or are so childish when they are losing, but will not name names Dueser, oops sorry. Paul and Mark each run a tournament, Paul Thursday and Mark Sundays. The attendance is low but steady. Just shows that people have other lives to live. This game, under the circumstances of not having any support anymore, is doing remarkably well.

To be honest I don't think it will ever grow much more than it is now but its a fine game still and like Links 2003 it will always have people playing it. I played two tournament rounds today the first in forever and really did enjoy it and will finish both those events up and try to commit to that. The game itself still has the best ground phyisics out there and plays smooth still. I don't hide that I play a lot of PGA Tour 2K21 as it has its pluses also and way more players but that is in reality because its on console and multi platform. I play the PC version and probably the same number of people on PC side as here but when your playing with all platforms combined your fields are huge. The truth is this is really a mouse based game and plays the best at 3C where the other game is controller based. I played today on my laptop at 3C and again enjoyable but I play the controller game on 50 inch Sony TV as its comfortable sitting in a recliner and playing. One last note and that is that if you could take PG and put the atmosphere and custom ability of the other game the perfect golf game would have been created and thats sad that it didn't happen. Again Links2003 still going at 18 years so really this gamenot going anywhere just not going to grow much more.

IF the game could ever be a standalone install like Links 2003 and Tiger Woods 2008 it would be around indefinitely IMHO. We can only hope that a miracle like that would happen. Hope springs eternal. :good:

...it is very reassuring that PGLS is a constant in this game. Thank you Mark and mods. :drinks:

Many eluded to it, but I'll chime in. The only way PG dies is if Steam drops it. As long as Steam continues to provide a platform, we will keep playing.
