Perfect Parallel courses

Post by Mwh65 »

For a long time now the following 3 courses haven't been available to play or purchase to anyone that hadn't already purchased them before Perfect Parallel abandoned Perfect Golf ...

Royal Birkdale
Royal Troon
Sedgefield CC Ross

I've known since this happened along with a few other players that an easy change allows these courses to be played by everyone and now I see no point in worrying about them being taken down.

If you have purchased any of these you will need to download the PGLS version if you intend to take part in any PGLS tournies that feature any of the above courses. You will need to either remove the folder name shown from your "Courses" folder for each course or just overwrite the files.

A caveat to this is that if you re-install PG or verify your PG files the changes will be overwritten and you will need to download/overwrite the folders again.

All 3 courses show in the PG carousel with PGLS in front of them eg PGLS Royal Troon. However all 3 courses show in the carousel using their original first word.

Royal Birkdale
"Courses" folder name : birk31_7
PGLS version download ... pgcourses.php?id=237

Royal Troon
"Courses" folder name : royaltroon13_07
PGLS version download ... pgcourses.php?id=69

Sedgefield CC Ross
"Courses" folder name : sedgefield1_0_3u5
PGLS version download ... pgcourses.php?id=244

Does this mean these three courses will now be usable in PGLS tournies and such?

According to Kdiff3, the three .description files are the only ones that differ from the default versions you would have after installing or verifying. All other files (most notably the .unity3d files which are by far the largest) are identical. Thus, once you've installed the PGLS versions of the courses, you could backup the .description files, then if you ever had to re-install or verify you'd only need to overwrite the .description files with your backup copies.

Yes correct. It really was a simple change to allow them to be played.

Instructions update in original post to clarify that the PGLS versions will be needed if any of the 3 courses feature in PGLS tournies.

It's not up to me Steve.

These courses may very well be played in PGLS tournies. If you don't download them you won't be able to take part in any PGLS tournies that are using them.

Just delete the existing folder, download and install the revised one like you would do for a new course.

If they are the same course that you have wouldn't the system ask you if you want to replace it and you just say yes? Had that issue with Royal Troon and just replaced when asked.
