Is anyone besides me sitting here watching the Golf Channel and "tour players" hitting in to 12mph winds off the tee, and routinely landing 300+ yards down the fairway?
Where anyone gets the idea that a 12mph wind is "breezy" is complete fantasy. Breezy..is 5mph to 8 mph. 12mp+ wind is windy, and if it changes every three seconds, its gusty, NOT breezy. Plus this game doesn't give you pro distances. Where is the driver for 300 yards default? Where is the 2 Wood for 275?
How is it, in this game, if there is a diagonal wind, and you miss the snap on the same side as the wind direction, even if its a miniscule sliver of miss, the penalty is increased by a minimum of 40 feet? When you hit the snap perfect, the wind has NO effect on the direction of the same shot, even if its straight across? How is that?
How do I hit a shot through the fairway in to the water and get a drop 10 feet behind a giant tree trunk that was nowhere close to the line of flight?
How is it in this game, 78.6% of ALL tee shots on par 5s are in to the wind. (am I the only one sick of 264 yard drives into 14mph winds?) This statistic is compiled based on 30 rounds (121 tee shots) played with random settings in non-tournament games. The course layout (North-South orientation) means nothing. This leads me to believe that designers have control over wind direction on a hole by hole basis on their courses.
Interested in someone's else's thoughts. Not the Pollyanna ones, the thoughtful ones.

Re: Wind Settings and other musings..
Agree with a lot of those. Especially some of the drops it gives you.
If you know a better, more realistic golf game, I'm up for giving it a try. But I've tried all the major ones available and always come back to PG. Frankly, none of the others held my interest for more than a few rounds - they all sucked compared to PG. At least to my perception.
So, I mean, what can you do? If you are waiting for someone to spend the time and effort to make a superior simulation for what is a tiny segment of the mainstream market - well, don't hold your breath. That's just not the current industry, and there's not much indication that will change any time soon. I sure don't have any faith in EA to make a good sports simulation anymore - why should they when fans smother them with money for the micro-transaction-ridden roster updates they pump out annually.
