Highland Weekly Challenge

Post by IanD »

Thought I'd share a post....

Having fun in this weeks challenge... and having some healthy scores out there from many in the field too. Sometimes, it makes it far more enjoyable when you walk off the 18th with a sense of achievement, rather than accomplishment or worse..!

Still thought it would be fun to show some of the instances I had, where you fear the fairway gods...

How many on RD 1, met this hole with soft slow greens and found water? I hit a seet shot which bounced almost pin high, before 'grabbing' and spinning back through green, fringe and rough, into water. What words came from my mouth so early in the morning lol..!

Onto RD 2, and found the random 'plugged' bunker shot....TWICE!
My ball went straight in, on the 8th par 3, only for my attempt out, to fly about 3 yards, before landing in mid air. The image isn't displaying my shot in mid-air above, it is actually stopped and about to place the Post Shot details over the top. I took the screeny thinking it was a bug, but it's likely the crop of the terrain causing this visual effect, as the image below that, shows my shot plugged AGAIN lol! Anyone have that luck on one hole?

Two holes later, and a stray shot found me inside a tree. I'd ask what you would do here...?
You can never be sure the shot, if played ignoring the tree, will react well. Or do you think the tree will see your shot rebound backwards...? If there is a gripe for this game, these are the ones you have... will the ball play properly, and why did it place me in this position lol.... I don't need these complications help... ;)

And a nice easy one to finish.... never quite sure how these play either. Paths.... now, to find my lost clubhead...lol.

I really enjoyed this round, and was quite pleased with a -8 score too. It makes it seem so eventful when you realise how many saves were needed and how one club really kept my head in check..!

Anyone else have some good experiences this week?

You might want to post that "inside tree" shot in the "Bugs" Perfect Parallel forum.

Seems like an edge detection issue.

Nice round btw :good:

Lol Ian, certainly getting your full money's worth with that range of shots...well done on the score considering all this!
The scores may be unrealistic, or even a joke but heyho, that's what we got.

Play well and enjoy your game everyone! :drinks:

btw, not a game for snowflakes.

Absolutely, very well done scoring considering all that mishap!
Circumnavigating the trees is one of the prime frustrations in this game for me (plugged lies and 0mm putts do a good job as well). You just don't know what aim is suffcient to clear them trees when it sometimes seems that the trunk is much thicker than it seems. Good to hear that I'm not the only one that has a stray shot that in the first instance looks like a possible makeable recovery but ends up as a round buster.

Agree... and happy to know I'm not alone, even with a score that sometimes surprises! I do think this course has become a favourite of mine, and maybe it is something to do with the Highlands....living just shy of them here in Scotland. It is a nice course and has some interesting holes and challenges.... can certainly see some great scoring this week though. Good luck to all.
