A new rule

Post by NIBNOB »

Can we have a new rule added to Ryder/Pres cups.......

All players must respond to their match post.....either with a yes/no on wether they can make the match..........

repeated fails should result in forfiet .......

we've all got busy lives

I could not agree more! It's very frustrating trying to arrange matches with those who don't respond. I say 1 missed match should result in forfeit of that match to the opposing team

I do hope for smoother communication in the foursomes as I believe we all do. However, although I do respect the fact that everyone's time is valuable, I think a quick trigger on a mandatory forfeit might be a little out of order. Real life happens and that needs to be respected as well. I myself was faced with this in my first match causing a reschedule. I also have a job that could lead to me being about to tee off and me having to go tend to my business. We all have different situations, that's part of what makes this fun. Remember, this is a game, it is designed to have fun and that Golf is a gentlemen's game. Now, go ahead and rip me apart haters.

Agree with Jude. Simple solution would be to email the contestants, or message them in game. Communication is obviously key. I almost never come to these forums. Never have. For instance, l was told my match ( today) was at noon est. ( It was at 11am est as it turned out. Was dumb luck that l was logged in, so wasn't a big deal. ) Perspective is important, too. It's just an inconsequential game. Peace

ok...a forfiet mite be too harsh

Thing is Brion this is the simple solution....posting here about times you can/cant make a match is seen by all....

so id like some sort of line put into rule that all players that sign up and are sellected in the future must responds to their match posts regularly....

the use of subs should could be used more too imho...

The singles begin after completion of the Foursomes/Alt Shot matches next week, so more team play before singles! It's important to use the Forum to set up matches since most players visit it regularly to determine match times with opponents.

My 2 cents, for what it's worth. There must be a penalty provision for failures to communicate or be available, and a forfeit is the ultimate remedy. That said, there should be alternative solutions before exercising that option. Team captains, in coordination with Mark, should inform the other captain of scheduling problems and request a solution within 24 hours. The offending team captain can investigate and either resolve the matter with the player OR substitute within 24 hours if they cannot reach the player not communicating for whatever reason. Substitutions must be approved by both the other team captain as well as Mark and must not be a third match for the substituting player.
