Tournies

Post by happyhammer7 »

I don't wish to sound ungrateful, as we are very spoilt, we just sit there and all these wonderful tournaments are set up ready for us to play without having to lift a finger. A lot of time is spent by people setting up these tournaments for everyone else's pleasure.
but All the tournaments these days seem to be off ladies or forward tees and are just drive the greens and lets have a birdie fest, whilst this is fun every now and again (we have Trifecta Tour for that) when trying to compete on the order of merit it does seem a bit weird that most the tournies are just birdie fests, not saying I want brutal conditions, I am probably in a minority but it is nice to try and grind out a couple under par on a tough course, not got a problem with throwing in a few different tees to mix it up a bit on different rounds, but we don't seem to play off the back pots very often.

As one of the administrators who sets conditions on Trifecta Tour, PGLS Tour, PairUp9 and Survivor I will give my thoughts. I have been doing this for quite a few years. When I first started, I used mostly Championship T's, especially for the PGLS Tour. After a while players get bored with the same conditions, so I now mix them up. Trifecta Tour is the only one I use the closest. Like all tours I what them to be fun. Example, recently the PGLS Tour was at Firestone South. Now we play this course each year like the pros did. This year I thought I would make it more fun with using ladies T's. It is a very tough course with its rolling greens and narrow fairways. The week of the US Open I used championship T's like the pros. Many of the other tours I use 4 different T's, when possible, just to make each round different. We do have a tour that you may like. The tough stuff tour but like Trifecta is all easy these conditions are extremely difficult. Variety is what keep people interested in my humble opinion. I love this game and only want everyone to enjoy themselves and not be frustrated because of poor conditions.
