HOW TO : Guidance on how to remove and re-install clean version of Perfect Golf
This is the best way of making sure you have a fresh version of Perfect Golf which has not been broken by the multiple updates the game has had since release. If you do not have this fresh version, you will suffer from various issues such as drops from hitting into water or your player in game loading without a name, in clothes you have not chosen, or with clubs you have not selected.
First, you will want to copy your courses folder or move it, to save having to download all user-created courses when you re-install the game. To do this, simply drag the Courses folder from within the \Steam\steamapps\common\Perfect Golf folder, onto your desktop.
Uninstall the game as you normally would for other programs. Do this by going to you Windows Programs and Features window and selecting the program and choosing Uninstall.
Then remove the Steam\steamapps\common\Perfect Golf folder which will still be present after the uninstall.
Run CCleaner to remove temporary files and scan the registry using CCleaner's tool for obsolete entries and remove them.
Reboot your computer, regardless if its needed, then re-install game in Steam again.

Thanks very helpful tips mike. I do use C Cleaner but am wary of using the Registry clean in case it removes vital files

Hi, My Brother is just getting a new computer and will need to reinstall PG from his old machine. To retain his existing characters and courses, is the above 2016 information still the best way to follow?
Thanks Gerry

It is yes. In your brothers case you will need to backup the "Courses" folder to an external drive then put them in the same folder on the new PC, overwriting everything.
You should also backup the file called autoexec.cfg found in the "Config" folder if it exists at all and restore it to the same location on the new PC.

There's one more folder you'll likely want to back up on the old computer and restore on the new. That one is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\<some 8-digit ID number>\288140\
The subfolder remote\Perfect Golf\ has a few files with settings and such. players.cfg has your players in it and is one you'll definitely want to migrate. options.cfg has various other settings including some you'll possibly want to migrate (though there are others such as graphics settings that you may want/need to revisit due to differences between the two computers). I'm not sure what the other files do, but it probably doesn't hurt to migrate them all. Use your judgment.
You may also find a folder C:\Users\<username>\AppData\LocalLow\Perfect Parallel\Perfect Golf which on my computer has one file, GA_archive. I don't know if it's anything important, but it's one to be aware of in case something doesn't work.
Note that '288140' is Steam's identifier for Perfect Golf. If your brother has other games from Steam, there will be other subfolders of C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\<some 8-digit ID number>\ for these games. If your brother wishes to migrate any of those, there may be settings in some of these subfolders for those games.
I'm also assuming that there is only one "<some 8-digit ID number>" subfolder. If there are two or more such folders, I think it means the computer has been used to access two or more different Steam accounts (possibly via different "users" on the same computer). In this case you'll need to figure out which of these is your brother's account that he uses in connection with Perfect Golf (look for the '288140' subfolder) and/or decide whether any of these other "<some 8-digit ID number>" subfolders have settings that need to be migrated.
