FPS

Post by RandyG »

I'm looking for help explaining the "FPS" in game.

Is high or low good?
I'm seeing between 95 FPS to up too 120 FPS in game.

I'm experiencing a very hacky meter lately and wondering if this may be my source.

Thanks in advance

Randy,

The ideal speed for frames per second is that of which your monitor is capable of.

The best way is to set this so that you are only getting as much as your monior is able to support, and therefore taking possible strain off of your card and in turn, back up the processing line, your CPU.

To do this, go into the game and on the Settings menu choose Graphics, and then select Vsync to be on for every frame. This will automatically top out the frames at that which your monitor can show. Any frames above the frames which your monitor can show per second is just wasted processing as you'll never see the extra frames.

Whether it will fix a stuttering meter is debatable, but it will make demand more stable.

Randy,

The higher the better for Frames Per Second (FPS). Anything above the mid 20's is good so no issues there. To give you some idea higher graphics levels in-game will reduce this figure.

Thanks Guys,

I've seen this rate go into the 300's before, never lower than 90. I have the Vsync turned off. I'll turn this on.
It certainly could be my monitor, it is a few years old. The refresh level for it is 60.

Update:

Initial results with Vsync on I did see improvement in the meter, very smooth. I caution that I only played a few holes with a steady 60 FPS before work this morning.
