Gettting a game with another player is never easy because you can wait for a long time in M&G without seeing another player. Also with a limited time scale its very difficult to fit all tournies in unless you do some solo. There are times when I might be interupted and be unable to complete a game so will play solo with the knowledge that if I need tol stop I can continue later without having to spoil someone elses game, So Terry if you are someone like me who wishes if possible to complete all tourneys (Someone has spent some time setting the rounds up and the least i can do is play them) Then it would be vertually impossible to complete all player vs player
One of the main reasons it is hard to get a game in the m&g is because there is hardly anyone in there 90% are out playing solo. I didnt suggest every round had to be played with someone else I said perhaps a minimum of 1. As for finishing all the rounds I seem to have other things to do and maybe im not as big of a lover of the game as you are Paul. Ive been on this site since the beginning and when i look at any leaderboard i dont recognise 90% of the people playing the pgls events. When you sign up to a club it might be nice to engage with other members of that club. They really just playing pg events because thats where they are listed. WGT went that way when people joined there own country club and were then never seen in the m&g.
But as i say its only my opinion and lets face it who listens to me.

pgls is not a club as such terry, me personally would like to see a players club inside pgls, which is for the people who prefer to play in the company of others, and join for that reason.also it says meet and greet, some folks have the idea that if your in there your wanting a game, not always the case on my behalf.......................
wonder how many are interested in the concept of an inhouse club for accompanied rounds?
Some people are like slinkies. Not much good for anything but bring a smile to your face when you push them downstairs!

I've been awaiting some form of Club setup for several years.... I had initially thought the way PP were aiming to create communities, was in this manner. It was how they began describing the Tournament side of things, with Country Clubs..

The quantity of players at present may be what is holding back the community and their involvement.... which is ironic really. However, IMO, the game is holding the community back too. The lack of full immersion into the game of golf, which lacks Stats, Career Modes and even a properly designed Pro Shop is holding the game back. It has a competitive element, sure. However, the users have become quite diversive and there is quite a wide difficulty userbase. I state that, because Tour Pro players are rarely at the wrong end of the Leaderboards. It's rare for a game to have THAT many masters..

If the game had more involvement, ie more players, we may find those playing decide to give back more. This isn't 'having a go'. It's simple numbers... more people participating, generally means more chance of users creating add-ons such as sites like these, courses etc. We have several already certainly... what we don't have is an abundant. Courses are the main focus of the community, and without the likes of Mark (and Mike) here, we'd be playing something else. There are some great people out there though, so this isn't said lightly, as I certainly appreciate those who have given us what we currently have.

We just haven't had the game we likely thought it was going to be... albeit still a good game. It just isn't a great game, yet.

As to the Club setup... I wonder what peoples thoughts would be too. Perhaps the way to play, that doesn't actually record your very player. IE, it isn't actually dependant upon your current playing ability. It could be, of course. However, if we had a record of achievements and scores, I'd hope this wouldn't be something that may affect my rating etc. It needs to be separated. Perhaps a Club requires a minium of two players, and a Club name. Similarly, like the Pair Up competition, but allowing upto a maximum number, ie 4. Once the Club is populated, challenges can be issued. So.. what challenges..? Maybe this is where we can create them...? How about the Unbeatables... ie have a challenge where all the members of a club must achieve something, such as win all games on one course. Maybe they have to beat all members of another club for another achievement. Perhaps there could be awards along the way, such as markers...a 50% achievement award once half is completed. I see the current setup of Ladders have win percentages, and streak numbers? It wouldn't be difficult to think of ways to highlight inform Clubs, and maybe introduce handicaps in future additional challenges. This is for me, where I thought the game would be heading...with everything we have already too. Once we already have our own levels, with records and stats, we need that ability to step 'out' of our notoriety. Clubs offer this, as well take it higher. Achieve all you can within a club, and you can certainly be considered a master... It's rare (or maybe could be a requirement) that all within the club would be THAT good.

Anyway, appreciate the ability to express myself and apologies to those I've caused concerns to. My comments are only words, from a nobody.

A good read Ian with some interesting ideas and thoughts.

I welcome this kind of post which doesn't bash anybody or thing in particular, but rather stimulates the grey matter into ideas which could evolve from what you have written.

Thanks, will come back with some once I have fully digested.
The scores may be unrealistic, or even a joke but heyho, that's what we got.

Play well and enjoy your game everyone! :drinks:

btw, not a game for snowflakes.
