Yes they can.

Depending on the tourney in question but as an example you can play PGA 9, PGA 18, PGLS Open, Stableford 9 and Hazard 9 with up to 8 players in total.

Not necessarily Dave. You might be playing your 1st round, and your playing partner his 3rd round. When the match has been concluded, your score is posted in round 1, and his score will be posted in his 3rd round. I don't think it matters how many players are in the match, each score is posted in the player's appropriate round.

EDIT: I STAND CORRECTED. THANKS FOR SETTING ME STRAIGHT!. :)

Now that you mention it... hbthree and I did this last week. It was my 3rd round and his 1st.
I hosted, and the game posted 3rd round scores for both of us.

Not quite. Suppose I had already played round one and my opponent had not posted any rounds. It is the host that determines which round will be scored. So I would host and it would be round two posted for both players.

Yes, Perc is correct in his above post. I'm afraid that the game and tournaments are not smart enough to allow two players to play different rounds, be that with different tees, pin locations, weather and all else that it would entail. So the statement quoted here is not correct.

Think of the four rounds being four separate 'holders'. If both players need the round, then both scores are recorded. If Dave had played round one and wanted company for round 2, that is what would appear as the next round up in his tournament area. He would then host, and anyone joining him for that round would see and play round two conditions. If a member joined you who had already played round 2, but was simply keeping you company, then his original score remains in place. We operate a one-and-done policy on scores at all times.

If you wanted company and had no member to play with, you can just as easily invite or ask to join any other player of Perfect Golf. They do not have to be a member of PGLS to play.... their score will not however feature on our leaderboard at PGLS because they do not have membership and therefore we have no Steam ID on which to base their profile upon.

If as a PGLS member you were invited by someone else (so they are hosting the round) and they had already played ahead, your score for the round they are hosting goes on the board. When you then go and look at the Tournaments area, and you had previous rounds remaining before that round to play, you will see the first of those rounds. For example, if you played round 3 with Warren, when you looked you would see 1/4 as the round count when you host, then 2/4... then as you had played round three, you would finally see 4/4.

You can always check our leaderboards on the site here (using the Tournies menu above and navigating to the event in question) to see what you have already played in a easier to understand format, and who may possibly offer options for company in playing rounds you have remaining to complete.

oh ok so that is why i see some scores on the leaderboard where round 1 was not played and a score in round 2.
well that answered my second question.
