Cherry Hills Country Club
Is anyone else getting weird results on this course? I was cruising alone real nice on the front nine of the PGLS Open when all of the sudden my shots started going unbelievable distances. I hit a 5 iron that carried 225 yards and rolled out about 240 yards with a perfect 12/6 snap. It happened on a few other shots as well. Somethings strange.
If it goes left, its a hook. If it goes right, its a slice. If it goes straight, its a miracle!
Re: Cherry Hills Country Club
The course is at altitude.
You can always check the course altitudes in any event by looking at the relevant Course/Conditions page on the site, in this instance, for the PGLS Open. The elevation of the course is always to be found below the image.
PGLS OPEN - JUNE 2018 - COURSE/CONDITIONS
If you are getting really weird results which don't correspond to what could be a two club difference at this altitude, then I would check your course version with our PG Course Checker Utility which will make sure you are up-to-date. Also, make sure you do not retain older versions because otherwise those will load ahead of the current version.

Re: Cherry Hills Country Club
Checked the course version. Up to date. No other versions on my PC. I didn't have this problem on the front 9. Yardages went right where they should go for the club chosen. Actually I was -5 after 8 holes then only shot even par on the back 9 (2 birdies 2 bogies). I spoke with a friend that played the round and he told me he had the same problem. I looked at the scorecard of a few players and seen that they had the majority of their bogies on the back 9 also. One player had one bogie on the front and 6 bogies on the back. It has to be something in the course design.

Re: Cherry Hills Country Club
There is greater elevation on the back 9, which will contribute.
Also, I found I was hitting a lot of wedges and short irons in on the front 9, and with those the distance will increase, but because of the angle of clubface intereacting with ball in a thin-air environment, actually you will gain more height and the effect of distance with those shorter clubs will be less marked.

Re: Cherry Hills Country Club
This is where JNPG really shines imho. A course like this makes you think as the altitude affects the flight of the ball and yes you will hit it further and you really have to dial down the clubs and think your way around the course. Just a tip as you really have to check out a course before you play as changing clubs in the bag and what ball you play are all part of it depending on the course. Love playing these high altitude courses and a complete different game compared to playing at sea level.
