A good thought, not to be dismissed outright but there won't be any changes for a little while due to holidays and work, but behind the scenes ideas are constantly being aired, dismissed or put on a little back burner to see how things can be altered to enhance enjoyment/involvement.Greensboronclion wrote: Thu May 16, 2019 7:19 pm I will give a suggestion and that is run two events within the one event each week and have a full score champ and a handicap champ and that cant be that hard to do as they do that in the other tour that's out there. Just a thought but I pretty know the answer.

The scores may be unrealistic, or even a joke but heyho, that's what we got.

Re: May 19 Player Tier movements
How about letting everyone shoot in whatever level they want but make every tournament handicapped? Isn't that what makes us all even? Now I might have a chance at winning a tournament, once a year, maybe. We add 11 strokes to your 18 hole round and I have to add 2 to mine. That's whats called fair play.
If it goes left, its a hook. If it goes right, its a slice. If it goes straight, its a miracle!

Re: May 19 Player Tier movements
and then there will be calls to limit the handicaps...how can player x have +15, that's not fair etc, etc. As in my reply to greens, things are being looked at constantly but timings dictate when changes can be made.

Re: May 19 Player Tier movements
We have tried a number of ways to create a level playing field. h/caps havent worked especially when players who are struggling to play on Ammateur then ask to be moved up to pro, in the end the player in question ended up with a 20+ h/cap and no one wanted to play against him. The old scoring method devised last summer created a situation where no one moved up and we were left with a situation of stagnation, where players were just getting above there lvl, making 40- scores common place and top of the Leaderboard was all yellow.
The present system has made the Leaderboard look alot better only the odd yellow up in the top 5, its tough for those that struggle to make the adjustment but keep playing and if your scores drop you will be offered the chance to return to your last lvl but suspect with practice you could even do as well
So I'm backing Andy and the present system in use.

Seasider as much as I would like to see a hdcp of some sort I have to agree with you that it probably wouldn't work due to the reasons you stated above. Tough being one of the administrators of a tour and pleasing all and the more I think about it the more I see it.

Re: May 19 Player Tier movements
If you are struggling to play on Amateur why would you ask to be moved up to Pro? The problem now is people are struggling to play Pro but are moved up to Tour Pro. If you have a +20 handicap, its for a reason. You're average warrants it. Give him 20 strokes and he most likely still wouldn't come in 1st place, but he would be a lot closer and know that if he got lucky a few holes he may even have a chance. Something he doesn't have now.players who are struggling to play on Amateur then ask to be moved up to pro, in the end the player in question ended up with a 20+ h/cap

Re: May 19 Player Tier movements
You are only moved up to Tour Pro from Pro if you score more than 7.5% lower than the Tier average or beat 80% of the Tier above over the calendar month, hardly struggling to play Pro now is it! And don't forget, that is ignoring the top and bottom 15% of scores to skew the figures, if you're beating the rest of the Tier by about 5 shots PER round (on average), you ain't struggling, don't give me that. Just move on...your scores at TP are hardly bad, under 1 shot above average in April and so far in May.

Re: May 19 Player Tier movements
I am so sick of these guys crying about their good play. Those of you that have no real competitive spirit and just want to see your name at the top of the leaderboard, I think you should ask Crusher (LeeGolfer) how he gamed the system and got moved back to pro.
And to the real "pros" hang in there and keep trying for a promotion.
