Totally disagree with this statement! It was a big deal to everyone when the levels were first established. In my memory the assists for all the levels were done in a progressive fashion. The most for hacker a little less for amateur even less for pro and none for tour pro. I have searched the forum archives trying to find the original post that spelled it all out but I can't find it. Anyone around at that time would remember how hardcore the devs were at trying to set this game up just right and I don't think they would have wasted their time setting up a whole level where the only difference was aiming.WTFRU115 wrote: Sat Apr 24, 2021 12:04 pm Crusher, the only difference between Pro and TP is the MAP and the time it takes to place your shot. Re: KEEP IT REAL
I, for one, have no beef with the course setups, even tight pins on hard greens @ 13 stimp! - lol - it's a challenge, lads, that tests us all - we don't need to set up courses that give us constant -10 scores for an 18 hole trip - it's just as gratifying, maybe moreso, to score a -2 on a tough setup - I enjoy ALL the tourneys, no matter how "tough" and appreciate the effort of the organizers!

Re: KEEP IT REAL
You are absolutely right! I was a beta tester for PG and I know we had different Snap penalties. I would have to search the test forums when they decided to make a change. Whenever I have the time for that I'll let you knowFlyer01 wrote: Wed Apr 28, 2021 3:04 pmTotally disagree with this statement! It was a big deal to everyone when the levels were first established. Re: KEEP IT REAL
I don't play as much because I only enjoy certain settings. I prefer it hard and fast with some wind. I don't care for target golf (soft greens). I want to hit shots that require imagination. I am not sharing this because I want more hard and fast torunies. I am sharing this to illustrate that we all have our own preference and at the end of the day, there is no way to please everyone. Making one happy, will frustrate another.
We are very fortunate to have people who are willing to use their personal time to give us so many tourney options. Thank you for doing so!

Re: KEEP IT REAL
I actually took the time to read this entire thread. Wow...just...wow. Guys...this is a video game...plain and simple. That being said, the whole argument about this setting and that setting becomes irrelevant when you look at the fact that everyone has to play the same conditions in any given tournament. There is no favoritism at all. Some conditions are going to suit some players better than others due to any given player's skill set. Several have said that "I won't play hard and fast conditions". or "I won't play soft and slow conditions". Bottom line...play what you want...it's a VIDEO GAME! If you can't have fun playing what is arguably the BEST golf video game out there, then move on to a different one. My hats off and much appreciation to the gents that put in hours of FREE time to give us this great site for PG golf tournaments. Keep up the good work!

Re: KEEP IT REAL
I use the motion swing, so I can't speak to the difference in difficulty when moving up to Tour Pro for those who click or use a different method. I have been promoted from Pro to Tour Pro twice, and I will say that the degree of difficulty increases significantly with the motion swing. The swing timing and the swing path both require significantly more precision and become quite demanding, so hitting a shot in the planned direction and with the expected distance is a rare thing for me. And this is true for every shot, including putting. A slight deviation in the swing path when putting will result in a mishit and loss of power that can leave the ball short of the hole at Tour Pro level - I'm a good putter and I did this a half dozen times yesterday playing the PGLS Open - and the same goes for almost every other shot. Yesterday, playing the PGLS Open, I had a 36 foot flop shot over water next to a green with an expected 5% loss of power. I flopped a 64W using full power to make sure it would land on the green, even if a bit long. It flew 12 feet into the water because the path was just slightly off.
Conservatively, I estimate that the move from Pro to Tour Pro has added 8 or 9 strokes to my game for 18 holes. And that is after practicing with the Tour Pro setting quite a bit before resuming tournament play. The first time I was promoted to Tour Pro, I did not practice with it. And I couldn't keep the ball in play with the motion swing, so I switched to clicking instead in an effort to keep my scores in the seventies. This time I hope it goes a little better. I played 4 rounds yesterday and managed to shoot par or less in each round; although the course was easy. I remain hopeful. Watching guys like Joe Bradley and S Jude shoot good rounds motivates me to keep at it.
And I have no complaints about course setups. I think the guys who devote their time to setting up rounds for us to play are doing a great job. And we should give them more credit. But, having run a tour at KISS for Links a few years ago, I know it is basically a thankless job. So I empathize.

Re: KEEP IT REAL
I agree Charlie the difference playing motion swing from pro to tour pro is extreme.charlie wrote: Thu Jul 15, 2021 3:00 pm I use the motion swing, so I can't speak to the difference in difficulty when moving up to Tour Pro for those who click or use a different method. Since you have not posted back bucko then I guess you found that the TP snap is far more sensitive than the Pro snap.WTFRU115 wrote: Sat Apr 24, 2021 7:53 pm Crusher, I will check this out for myself, and will let ya know how that went.

Re: KEEP IT REAL
I have followed this weeks open with interest. Links golf has always been to me the most natural way to play the game. living on the coast I played alot of my game on links courses. The green needs more care as its rarely flat the ruogh can be so hard to get out of, the pot bunkers are frightening and then theres the wind off the sea to contend with.
I watched the talk on the practice area and was surprised to learn that the Stimp for the saturday (the turn atound day were the pins get harder) the commentater noted that the stimp For the day was 10.2. (we were playing hard stimp 13.
Watching the final day (Sunday) I noticed that that the green was getting some bite and spin. The golfers were putting firmly I looked like stimp 11 or less because there was no concern that the ball would sail past the whole, Whilst we were playing HARD HARD stimp 14.
Looking at the PGLS scoreboard the conditions made little difference to the top 15 or so, but dissappointingly I was in the red and after a good start as well. The damage was done on r3 it was tough hard 13, Round 4 I was too scared to go for pin, instead I played safe. Why are putting the less skilful players like myself down and why?
Please KEEP IT REAL.
