KEEP IT REAL
As participation dwindles in this game I see no effort to keep anyone interested tourneys lately have been for the upper elite in this game unrealistic conditions on BS courses why do you keep setting conditions to frustrate people We all enjoy a challenge but this is getting Ridiculous

Re: KEEP IT REAL
It would be helpful if you mentioned what tour your frustrated with Craig.
Please bear in mind, that tours are set according to forecast weather conditions.
Its got nothing to do with (upper elite) as you said .
Its just pot luck what conditions are.

Re: KEEP IT REAL
I agree, some tournaments have been overly aggressive with conditions. I sometimes am guilty of this. That's one reason I started the Trifecta Tour. I try to keep the winds calm though I will use a low breezy setting but I will keep 90% of the rounds with calm winds, no 8, 13 or 14 stimps. Ladies or Challenge T's and sometimes I throw in a 3 par course. Give it a try. Setting the conditions is really a thankless job. You are never going to please everyone. We have more Tour Pro players then Pro and Amateur players combined, which means, very good players out there and many ask for challenging Tournaments. It would be nice to have a Tournament for just Pro and Amateur players with much easier settings but how many would actually play? It takes time for Mark to set up a new Tournament and he wants to make sure it gets good participation. Your comments are not falling on deaf ears. It is just a fine line between appeasing the less experienced players and making sure the one's that have nearly mastered the game are still challenged.

I know its a thankless job and you cant please everyone but setting 14 stimp hard/ hard and 9 stimp soft/ soft with 15-18 mile cross and head wind every hole is down right STUPID GOLF

Re: KEEP IT REAL
The PGLS Tour was setup to try and match the real PGA Tour both American and European. When John and I are doing the conditions, for a real course, we try and match the weather conditions, the best we can. It is the only tournament I will do that because that is the purpose of this tour TOO MATCH THE PGA TOUR. If you check out the weather for the two courses, we are playing, this week you will see that. This tour was set up to be the most realistic tournament at PGLS.
Re: KEEP IT REAL
You're playing just fine in the current PGA 9 as a Pro. Wait till you get to Tour Pro, then you'll have a great appreciation for the current settings.boxmaker111 wrote: Sat Apr 24, 2021 12:50 am I know its a thankless job and you cant please everyone but setting 14 stimp hard/ hard and 9 stimp soft/ soft with 15-18 mile cross and head wind every hole is down right STUPID GOLF

Re: KEEP IT REAL
I have to agree with Alan on this. This is the one Tour where we have real courses, actual pins from last year, and use current weather conditions to create as real a tournament experience as we can.
That said... sometimes the course designer of these real courses doesn't live up to the lofty expectations of what we expect from what we see on TV. Pin planting that goes against PGA Tour guidelines is a big complaint (flat area 3 ft around the pin). Do we replace these real course with a substitute, or do we try to pick pin and condition combinations that are fair? (the later is our choice).
Sometimes there is that one or four holes that you just can't fix, but the rest of the round provides a fair challenge. This is what we strive for. Fair, but challenging.

Re: KEEP IT REAL
All good points...for me it comes down to participation, are we losing players? to overly aggressive settings.....if so then what should we do?
real life conditions dont really marry with that settings in PG.....so dont try to match
some courses in PG dont need tough settings, while some definitely do.....
Aim for the middle ground when setting on tougher courses....

Crusher, the only difference between Pro and TP is the MAP and the time it takes to place your shot. I think what your beef with Boxmaker is unjust.
