Beta Courses

Post by Riddler »

Are these beta courses used in our actual tournaments? When or are they ever finalized? Are we supposed to be testing them? Seems like there are quite a few.

Beta courses are not used in our tournament play, they only become available for official tour events once taken out of beta on our database.

They can, however, be selected as courses for play in friendly play and in ladder set-up, as well as our occasional events. The reason for this distinction is because we want to ensure properly tested courses are used in events where participation is high and where problems will cause greatest harm.

They are finalized when our open beta area has shown that a few eyes have looked at them, and after any member who wishes to look at betas has registered a tick or 'vote' in each of the 10 beta test focus points.

All members have an open invitation to play and test the beta courses. Download the courses each time you do, to ensure you have the absolute up-to-date file.

There are quite a few. The more eyes we get on them, the more feedback garnered, and the more designers feel it is a two-way street where it is worthwhile to get their course available, the quicker we can move through them.

These are not courses being tested elsewhere in most cases. Designers decide on where they wish to lodge courses for testing, and so some course we release once they become public via another provider. The ones we have in our Beta are for the most part from designers who want a more 'independent' release of their courses.
