Tournament Players

Tournament Players
I have often wondered why some players are obsessed with playing tournaments and others again prefer to play multiplayer and measure their level of play that way.
Is the fact that they play alone in the tournaments because they feel threatened by other players or may have more time and patience when doing this on their own.
Irrespective of their reasoning and let's assume that they want to compare their game against other players that completed the tournament, does winning the tournament at all cost is the reason for them playing these tournaments at all.
The following stats in the recent Caddyshack tournament indicates otherwise.
Number of players in tournament - 25
Number completing 4 rounds - 11
Number completing 3 rounds - 07
Number completing 2 rounds - 04
Number completing 1 round - 03
Can I say that Kevin-G and myself went through great lengths to set up these courses by picking the pins by hand to ensure good challenging courses.
My question: Why did the players not complete the fourth round. Was it because they felt that winning was impossible looking at the leaderboard, or did they feel that the course was too difficult to play. Why would you stop playing after having shot a very competitive score. The leader finished on -29 whereas some of the other guys shot up to -25 after 3 rounds.
Please guys, finish your rounds and the tournaments if you prefer this type of competition.
What do you think?

Bumpy Green setting might have something to do with it.

Personally, I try to make sure I play all rounds (mostly with other players) in the PGA9, PGA18, Stableford and PGLS Open tourneys - as I believe Affo uses these events to calculate his world rankings, which I employ to compare myself with other players. I really like the Caddyshack format (using more than one course) and try to play it whenever I can - but sometimes I am unable to because I do not have enough time in the week. Maybe other players also have time issues which prevent them from completing some events?

Playing tournaments i take more time to work out my shots thats playing solo in the tours . But i have stopped playing the tours recently as i prefer head to head games in the lobby as i play this game for fun and prefer the fun method to the competitive stuff. I think some of the guys playing get really competitive ok fine thats their game but sometimes a good alt9 with random players is fun and welcomming to new players in the lobby and the locked games are WHY ? ok if friends playing the same tour but as a newbie comming in to play a fun head to head game its not nice .I see this game has now become more competition tours and way . Who cares who wins its nice to win a tour or a game yes great big pat on the back well done , but the alt 9 friendly match play games to me are the best fun .
