PG Classics 2019 review

Post by Seasider47 »

Hi All..... PG Classics is entering its 2nd full season in 2019

PG Classic is a unique tour in many ways. Its the only tour that will only use the leading real golf courses as used by the PGA Tours
Its also the one tour presently using handicaps in PGLS.
Finally I persuaded the management to allow me to use a few Pay to play real courses in the tour.

In each tour I try to make the round conditions as realalistic as possible. Before setting up a tour I will check with the local weather conditions over a ten day period whilst the tour is running and as near as possible choose wind strength, direction, whether coditions are dry or wet and how this could affect f/way and green speed. So sometimes you my find the course very hard and other times not so difficult. Above all I hope that the tour will be a pleasure to play

I have tried to make this tour a real golf experience. Please check out information about the course in the PG Classic forum. Each tour I include a short history of the course and a couple of short videos of the course. There is also a section in PG classics forum for you to have your say, post videos of your game and display any hole in ones during your game.

For those who have played PG Classics in 2019 we hope you have enjoyed them, and for all new players we hope you have fun and it becomes a real playing experience

Please check out our first Course of 2019 HERE viewtopic.php?f=72&t=1973&p=11143#p11143

I used to live about 3 miles from Pasatiempo Golf Course...and the best time to play it was this time of year. It was mostly clear all day verses in the summer time when the marine layer(fog) arrives in the mid to late afternoon and it's low and thick and wet, a mile to the north in Scotts Valley it would be 85-90 degrees F. The fairways were mostly narrow lined with tall Redwood and Pine trees and the forest floor covered with ferns and poison oak not to mention rattle snakes (western diamond backs). The marine layer would stay until mid to late morning depending on how thick it was, so you only had a few hours of good weather to play...unless you enjoyed cold damp weather. Just thought I'd share a little insight about the area.

Just to let those who haven't realised, the PG Classic isn't the only tour to use handicaps, TRTCC also does. For those that enjoy handicapped events and wish to play with the most realistic method of play, RTSM/C, you are more than welcome to join.

Cheers

Simon

Thanks Mark. I think it is working very well as we have had a lot of different winners in these early weeks. The number of participants completing all 4 rounds is slowly increasing also. Hopefully this will continue.
