Gimmie concern

Post by NIBNOB »

Over the last few weeks on different courses ive had shots added to my rounds because of this gimmie problem where after pressing gimmie it then makes you putt anyway and adds a shot....the latest one came in HDH r1 hole 6 par 3 1st shot on green 47ft away putt it close pressed gimmie then had to putt anyhow giving me a 4... very annoying....i am NOT asking for a adjustment...i understand that this game is flawed........ in a bid to speed up gameplay i have my post shot screen set to 2 second but i still try to hit gimmie, sometimes right and the end of the timer and thats probably the reason maybe

Can i ask the setters NOT to select gimmies in the future to prevent me from being tempted to press it......

also has this happened to you?.....it can be easily missed..... :rtfm:

anyway rant over.........STAY SAFE EVERYONE :good:

If this escalates then it's easy to turn gimmies off for all PGLS tournies. Please reply here if you have also been affected by this.

I have have seen strange things happen, in this game, over the years but I never have experienced what Mark has. That would be very frustrating indeed!

Thought this had happened to others................soz Blaukraut i should have look for old posts
Alan....Like i said this can be easily missed if like me your post shot screen has a timer on it you may just think that you just were too late on the gimmie hence having to putt but not noticed your score....i suppose turning off time on post screen would work too

It would ultimately be best just to turn gimmies off completely in all PGLS tournies. That way the 'Gimmie' option won't be available.

We did do that long ago and then it was changed. I voted against going to gimmes but it does save a bit of time. I noticed Caddyshack went to 24" gimmes which is too easy in my book. Would be nice if we could see how many have experienced this issue, Mark posted about, before making this change or not.

I have never experienced this, but my post screen isn't automatic. It has always been part of my routine to wait til it pops up and then click continue.

I am one of those that supports gimmies and in fact would like to see it at 24 inches. I can't tell you the last time I've played with with a Tour Pro that missed a 24 inch putt. It doesn't help us, it helps the new players that are learning and need the confidence anyway. Thats not a bad thing because we need new players. Anyway, that is really a separate discussion.

Back on topic... if this is related to the post screen situation then maybe making the gimmie automatic would cure the problem?

That is another option, making the gimmie automatic rather than turning them off.

sometimes I forget to set 1 foot on the HDH tourneys
but I would like to see them turned off all the way around.
most here strive to have tourneys like they are in real life and in real life in a tourney
there are no gimmies
