Fairly new to PG...how are people getting such low scores?

Post by ianoble »

Definitely a casual player, who enjoys the 3-click option of PG. Playing in a few tournaments and I'm amazed at the low scores. Stuff like a round of -13 on a 9 hole course...

I'm not here to accuse cheaters or anything, I'm genuinely interested in if there is a certain configuration that the top players use to achieve these scores? Do you take out a certain variable so you can ensure every shot lands exactly where you want?

Having a lot of fun, even if just under par is the best I'm going to get to.

the game has been out now about 6 years, most of the lower scores are 3 clickers
who have been here all along and they don't miss to many shots.

Like Dave said, over time you just get used to how the game plays and the ball reacts. No special setups or tricks.

Looks like this week's events are a bit tougher and you won't see any really low scores...but who knows!
The scores may be unrealistic, or even a joke but heyho, that's what we got.

Play well and enjoy your game everyone! :drinks:

btw, not a game for snowflakes.

The -13 was a result of 1) team competition (scramble format), 2) easy course / conditions, and 3) two very good players teamed up. Doesn't happen very often, but look at the scores of the 23 teams in the Pairs 9 tourny. It's a very tight and competitive 4 rounds where your opponents push you to score better and better, or you end up off the podium.

What was said above - time, playing as often as possible over the years, is the key to executing the shot mechanics of full power and hitting "the ding" (6 o'clock).

Next, get to know your clubs & ball distances and possible spin. Know your wedges, especially their spinback, and at what club the spinback stops.
From 60 yds and in try a Pitch and runout instead of a full Wedge and spinback - depends on the green contours.

Try the Mid-Week Challenge in the Events Tab (Wednesdays). Basically, you can play a round with a human partner. If they're in a chatty mood, you could ask for suggestions as to a particular shot you're attempting.

Hope these help.

That's it exactly, it's all down to learning and experience. I am still relatively new been playing for about 18 months and when I started it was not unusual for me to get scores of 10 over par and even higher. Now I even manage to get a few sub par rounds but mostly in the mid 70s for an 18 hole round,

Don't know if I can improve on that but I'm still learning so be patient but most of all enjoy the game and friendships you will make.

Cheating really??? are we going down this road again??.....imho cheaters dont play the same games for years, theyd get bored and only play now and again..fyi i will be playing more tourneys this week after my break.. :secret:

Also i think experienced players on here should be encouraging the new players instead of fueling outdated rumers.... :clapping: :flex:

3C has been around for many years and the fact is there are some who are very good and rarely miss and it takes a lot of practice and that is the whole story. My advise is find yourself a rival and try and beat his score every event and dont worry about the low scores and also try playing some of the other swings like RTS and you will not be bored. This game like all golf games is loaded with older players who were around from Link2003 and know how to score and there is no cheating just good clicking and like I said there are some very good ones.

Sorry I mentioned that. I really didn't want it to sound like I was accusing anyone.

To ianoble - I could tell immediately in your post that you were definitely not accusing anyone at all of dishonorable play (cheating), so have no fear of asking questions as you have, especially since you are new here. I feel bad that some may have felt you were being accusatory. Stick with us without fear of comments and good luck brother...it takes time, but you will be posting low scores soon enough. :good:
