unacceptable winds

Post by duncanmathieson »

not happy with winds of 26mph as we have been asked to limit wind below 20mph.pg wind speeds are all over the place, which makes conditions a joke lol.

yep that is kinda silly, anything over strong breeze
should not even be thought about to use in any tourneys other then the tough stuff.
after all we know that PG left out a couple parts of the wind program that was built for the game.
so it is another half assed job done by the game maker really sad.
but should not be used to torture the players and force it on to them.
think about it this way in real life would you go out and play on a day where the winds where that high
i know i would not waste my real time in that matter, so why would i waste my gaming time that way either
looks like i will be passing this week.

i also don't understand why there are changes in the format and the use of 3 different
MOPs just silly.

I understand your comments but scores have been very strong no matter what conditions I seem to put out there. Yes wind was strong but I tried to make it more fun by using different T's with makeable par 4's that can be reached on a good driver or less. We have some excellent players who seem to like the challenge. I can't please all but seeing -41 scores are just not right. I also used all three formats that I tried to conform to the condtions. We had 25 teams play last tournament, 27 Tour Pro, 19 Pro and 4 Amatuer. These are experienced players and know how to play in any conditions. Finally, if you look at the scores, so far, not one round has been par or above, instead all are under par. I don't see the issue here. Don't appreciate using the word SILLY! I take a lot of time doing all the tours I set up now and using words like silly just make me feel like I am wasting my time. Anyone want to take over Divisions, Division Pairs, PairUP 9, PGLS Tours or Survivor just let Mark know.

Alan we have lived by sort of what you could call a rule here amoung the setters about the wind
it was said long ago any wind over strong breeze was unacceptable to use in any other tourneys other then the tough stuff.
anything over the strong breeze is nothing more then a crapshoot. there is no consistancy to the stronger winds what so ever
nothing more then guessing at where to aim. that is why it is just a silly thing to use these winds. like i said all that can have fun with
it have fun. i will not be playing. just reminds to much of a slot machine all about luck. also i am aloud to have and voice my own opinions
here thats what a forum is all about.

The problem with even moving up a few tees is that faced with playing anto a 25 MPH wind that often can be more like 30-35 and swirling around it is very difficult to reach a par 4 green. We face that on a couple of holes on round 1 even though the wind was given at just 22mph it was playing a lot longer.

Dont get me wrong Alan.
We appreciate your time and effort in setting tours, but my gripe was using winds which admin and setters agreed not to use as lesser players were disadvantaged, due to the erratic nature of pg being unable to calculate effect of winds over 20mph.
Just my opinion bud.

Appreciate the comments and will not use winds stronger then breezy again. Saw only one comment about using 3 different formats for this Tournament. Again, I am just trying to mix things up. I figure every 4 weeks have an Alt-shot, Greensomes, Scramble and then, for week 4, a mixture.

the thing about mixing the formats. is if i look at the settings once here on the site i know what i am playing with a mix up it always brings us back here to the pgls to see what format each round is while i just could be moving on to the next round without having to come back here to see what the format is, maybe Mark can figure out a way to mark this on the ingame tourney tabs. if not then it would be nice to not having to come draging back here to the forums between rounds to see what the format is, don't know what others think but i like to know what i am playing before i get started in the round.

Must be pick on Alan day......let me wade in......Thx Alan, and all the other setters for all your efforts in setting these tourneys up...... :clapping:

A few weeks back i asked for easier setting for Alt and tougher for Scramble, i think you got that just about right this week, Round 4 was a real scramble (real tough).......

I do perfer the same MOP for all 4 rounds but thx for trying something different.....

Thx

First off let me say I didnt realise the change of format to scramble on round 4 I just assumed they were all Alt Shot (though how i missed it I dont know lol its plain to see its a scramble), I can now see what alan was trying to do. Secondly this is not an attack on Alan, I think he has done a great job with the PGLS Tour. Alan's new to setting the Pair upAnd hes trying a few new ideas thats good. I just wished to point out the difficulties in using the wind along with the green conditions. thanks Alan and carry on doind a great job as do all our setters in different ways.
