Played first round and agree the greens are not the best. The course had no notes attached and when picking the pins it is really difficult to notice if the greens have irregular breaks that make no sense. I will add notes to the course so it will not be used again. It is never my intention to frustrate our players with poor course choices.
I ususally try to DL most all the courses, so when Mark and I teed it up for the pairs and I found that I didn't have it, that was a clue that is was going to be a stinker. I'm sure I deleted it in the past and will do so again.
ok, now some here are not going to like what I am fixing to say.
but here goes anyway. we just finished playing the round and I got to say
I can more than likely list a couple of dozen courses that play the same and worse than these did. so if we are going to start removing courses from the tourney list there are a bunch more that need to come off.
I see no reason to disqualify this course for the greens just because the guys who are most of the time at the top of the list have a bad round.
really kinda silly. so I would really rethink removing it. I did go in today and noted in the course notes the bad greens by what I was reading
but I guess I should have waited till I played it myself. do I remove the notes or leave them in? I would like to hear from the other site mods on this.
thanks for the time

It's not the greens so much as it's the planting of pins on severe slopes, placing mini-speed bumps around the hole, and using kinks and saddle backs too close to pins that stand out to me. These are the designer's fault and not the pin setter.
This course could be a very nice tournament course if the designer would address these issues. But will he?
I think we should keep the comments in the course notes for now just as a reference.

No Dave. On the contrary. We still have good rounds but realize this course, especially for Skills is not a good choice. It has nothing to do with the pin setter but has everything to do with how the designer created the greens. If the designer modifies the course greens then it would be a nicer course.
well, I guess if we said a lot of the designers need to do things to their courses
but we don't as to not offend them. to be honest there are dozens of courses with issues then
look at all the courses with pins too close to the edges of greens do we also disqualify those courses too.
then look at all the courses that have pins on slants do we disqualify those too. seems rather silly that now all of a sudden
people are starting to pick apart the courses we do have to play. this is just a silly damn golf game it is not supposed to be perfect
never was and never will be even with the name perfect golf, lol. maybe some are just a bit too serious about something we are here to have fun with.
look at all the crap fantasy stuff we have to deal with so many unreal courses that could never be in real life do we disqualify those
from tourneys, I would say yes to that myself as I play this game for the reality of it and not the stuff designers find in the dark recesses of their minds.
maybe 15 % of the fantasy courses are built with the thought of making a good playable course and the other 85% are built with the thought of how do I defeat the golfer. as per getting any of these designers to revisit any of their works here, I would call that an imposable task cause it ain't gonna happen. well since we are going to start pulling courses from tourneys we should go ahead and put notes on that messed up version of Melbourne that has greens just about the same level as this Mistwood course what ya think?
