Nahoon Reef #18
On the 18th hole of Nahoon Reef, this week's course, to the left of the fairway there's a fairly large open area of rough that looks like it should be a playable alternate route for those who would rather avoid the risk of water hazards and pothole bunkers along the fairway. Unfortunately it doesn't work. You may get what appears to be a safe landing but on the next shot the player is buried, you can't tell what kind of lie you're hitting out of (the caddie's recommendation is way off even after accounting for power loss, and basically no way to tell how far a shot is going to go. Sometimes you end up buried, or on or under the water, and it can take multiple shots to get back out to a predictably playable lie. After getting in trouble in this way on my Survivor round, I went back later to practice this hole and got similar results.
