hi
played 2nd round of pga18 on the 18th drove into hazard but would have given me a free drop as it lay. but it didnt give me any drop and i had to exit so i dont think a pen shot is fair thx

Hi Terry,

You drove into a Hazard. if the drop was working, it would have given you a penalty stroke.

Because the drop is broken, a restart places you back where you hit from before, which constitutes a legal drop.

From the R&A:
If your ball is in a water hazard (yellow stakes and/or lines) you may play the ball as it lies or, under penalty of one stroke:

play a ball from where your last shot was played, or

drop a ball any distance behind the water hazard keeping a straight line between the hole, the point where the ball last crossed the margin of the water hazard and the spot on which the ball is dropped.
Therefore, the drop in original position with our penalty stroke in place is correct, in the absence of being able to drop in a designated area.

If it did not give you a drop option, I am unsure how you ascertain that it would have played 'As it lies'.

it wasnt all the way in athe hazard just past the posts it came up with the drop options but when i clicked it nothing happened and i couldnt do anything. but hey its not the end of the world mike
