Re: Undermining penalty system
This is probably well overdue but I will need to come up with something here.
Most of the requests to remove penalty strokes are valid, especially if you hit into say water and don't get the option to Drop the ball at all and end up force quitting PG as you are left with no alternative. However I think we will need to go down the route of requiring a screenshot of said 'No Drop' option.
Taking a screenshot is as easy as ALT & Prt Scrn which will copy the screen to the clipboard and you can then paste it into 'Microsoft Paint' (Search for mspaint).

Re: Undermining penalty system
so your rewarding poor/risky play?......dose anyone see my point im trying to make here or am i missing something......this policy favourers risk takers who screenshot alot(maybe even just before post screen pops up) they then get to take the same risk again without penalty....
i disagree with your |"most requests are valid" line.....if you hit the ball into the water and get no post screen then quit and resume at previous shot then the penalty is warranted.....

Re: Undermining penalty system
I hope this is not the case and members aren't asking for relief when they deserve the penalty. I have never asked when it was a legitimate penalty. Now when you play pairs and it is a scramble or greensomes format and one member hits in an area that is a penalty situation but the other doesn't so you can't chose until you leave and resume then yes it should be taken off. Other solo situations are game freezes, game goes to desktop without reason, you land in an area and game won't continue, which have all happened to me then your deserve to have penalty taken off. I always try to include a screen shot of what happened.NIBNOB wrote: Tue Dec 01, 2020 2:10 pm so your rewarding poor/risky play?......dose anyone see my point im trying to make here or am i missing something......this policy favourers risk takers who screenshot alot(maybe even just before post screen pops up) they then get to take the same risk again without penalty....

Re: Undermining penalty system
In a scramble tourny you would never pick the your partners ball (when hit in water) even if the game worked correctly. So, in that scenario "rub of the green" is not a reasonable explanation.

Re: Undermining penalty system
Okay I'm going to need to delve deeper into this. Maybe I'm the one not understanding how the penalty shot gets applied. I know why it gets applied but my concern is whether or not after hitting say your tee shot into water if a player forces the game closed, on resuming is he standing near the water looking at his 2nd shot?
To me if that is the case then yes the penalty shot should apply because if the player had been given the drop it would surely be his 3rd shot.

Re: Undermining penalty system
There are also legitimate reasons for a replay. Like Riddler says, pair up tourneys are one. I hit a perfect tee shot down the middle of the fairway and now its my partners turn. He blasts one into the trees, water, OB, wherever and the post screen doesn't come up. He has to leave the game and come back. Penalty stroke included. We still take my ball that is in the fairway. Shouldn't be a penalty. I have had it happen on weird things also. I once putted a shot from 10 feet or so right in the middle of the cup, perfect speed. The ball jumped out of the cup a hundred miles per hour and went into a lake. No post screen. Do I deserve a penalty for that? It happens.
If it goes left, its a hook. If it goes right, its a slice. If it goes straight, its a miracle!

Re: Undermining penalty system
where this comes into play is in the pair up when playing scramble or greensomes and you get to pick the shot you will further the hole withMwh65 wrote: Tue Dec 01, 2020 3:25 pm Okay I'm going to need to delve deeper into this. I hit my drive in the water, no post-shot screen given so we have to log out to go any further which then gives you the penalty even when your partner hits a good drive into the fairway and you pick his shot to play. it is a game issue and no way to fix it.
this is what happens in a game that was never finished and the maker does not take care of these issues.
I hope that helps you understand this a little better Mark.

Re: Undermining penalty system
Dave, I'm actually referring to single player matches not team events.

Re: Undermining penalty system
the same happens in single player tourneys not all hazards have post screen pop upMwh65 wrote: Tue Dec 01, 2020 5:31 pm Dave, I'm actually referring to single player matches not team events.
when they don't you have to leave the game and come back to resume which gives you then a penalty stroke
for leaving the round, I think you already have the best system set up for this due to it being a game or designer issue.
I am not sure if the designers skip putting in some drop zones hence no pop-up window. or if maybe the game is not recognizing the drop zones
that have been put in, only a guess maybe a designer could chime in here.
