Re: Pair-ups
I will also say I played with Queenofthegreens for a bit while flop was down with a hip replacement
she is a really good golfer in real life and will be back around soon and she will more than likely be looking for a partner.
which I will direct her to the team building forum to find one, so if you see her post for a partner grab her up as she is also pretty good at this game
and a blast to chat with.

Re: Pair-ups
also, I have built a steam voice chat room to use to try and get more alt-shot players together for some fun rounds
it has 4 rooms now and more can be added if needed. anyone is more than welcome to use it for their pair-up rounds or just as a place to hang out and play some MP with friends now there are only 5 members in there but as I said all are welcome all you have to do is send me a friend request on steam and I will be able to invite you from there. I have set this room up so that any members can invite any of their friends themselves without having to friend up with me. com on fellas let's get some more people in there and get some fun MP going on. I know not all like the voice chat but you really don't know what you are missing and it is also a great way to strategize with your partner during your pair-up rounds. some may wonder why I do these things mainly because I believe this is the best golf game out there and if we keep the player counts up we may last longer. also if you don't like the steam voice chat you can always join the Caddyshack site where we supply a TeamSpeak server and the info is posted there in the forums there. I forgot to post that to invite your friends you need to friend up with me first and I will invite you in, then you will be able to invite from your own friend's list and it will work. that is on the steam system and to invite you have to be in the chat.

Re: Pair-ups
On the subject of Pair Up, I think participation would decrease if moved to 18 holes instead of 9 and increasing the time to play the rounds may also hurt rather than help - my impression here is that the players like to see where they stand in rather short order - ie, a week rather than longer - and some may have been discouraged by the same teams winning regularly (not my team - we love to try to catch them!! LOL) but I have heard murmurs along that line - also agree that Tough Stuff lost its allure to me (used to play it) with the inconsistency of the wind allowances

Re: Pair-ups
bb I do kind of agree with all you posted that is why in my post I said with the tour going away for the month of December
it may be a good time to test a 72 hole pair-up just to see how it may do. then it would be up to Mark and his admins where it may go.
if it was set for 2 weeks then it would just about be the same as the 36 holes weekly tourney. all need to remember you can stop after 9 holes on an 18 hole round and come back later and move along so with 2 weeks to complete it is pretty much the same as what we have now.

Re: Pair-ups
We need to get more teams into your chat room and get some alt shot match play going. December would be a good time to promote this.
Mind if I recruit some members I play with?

Re: Pair-ups
John a few things you need to know to invite others you need to be in one of the golf rooms to invite
so you need to go into the chat and do your invites while you are in one of the chat rooms. sorry I left this part out
I guess it is just one of those getting older things, lol

Re: Pair-ups
Dave yes indeed, if new players never read these posts, it might as well be in an echo chamber for us posting concerns. Some of these tourneys just need to be tossed into a flaming pile of dog crap and never be seen again. (hint, hint: Tough Stuff) For those making decisions, and creating tourneys, consider settings that make the game enjoyable and not ridiculous. The game settings for the tourney sets the tone on whether someone will play or not. If veteran players don't find it challenging enough, and if the intent is to spark interest with new players, then don't participate. Or perhaps, just play it, and make that ridiculously low score that you covet so much. At least then the conditions will make the game a bit more enjoyable. You (tourney creator) think that going from a stimp 8 hard/soft in one round to the next round of say a 13 hard/hard makes it enjoyable? No, it just makes you sadist. Try to think about the new player for the first time playing in a tourney getting absolutely frustrated and never finishing. Yes, you just lost a potential long-term player.
However, the game is showing signs of losing interest altogether, and new players only arrive when this game is on sale (currently at 34.99) too much for something this old. Let's face it, there are too many hurdles to climb with this concern. If the admins want to kill it (pairs tourney) for lack of participation, so be it. The time and effort they put in to keep us entertained is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
