1. Do other Steam games run without issues.
2. If other Steam games run without issues try verifying the PG files ...

You may have to re-install Steam then.
That will also remove PG so backup your courses.

Just to give you an update Mark . I did as suggested and reinstalled Steam . Saved my courses . Must have umpteen copies now . Everything ok again . Not sure what happened but heyho joys of the pc world .
