Tournament Wind Speeds .vs Actual Wind Speeds
For some time now I've notice the maximum wind speeds announced in the "courses and conditions" tab for a tournament, doesn't match up.
For example, the winds for Rd 4 of The Masters on PGLS tours shows maximum of 13 mph. In fact the winds were as high as 15 mph, and of course always in to my face on the brutal long par 4s at Augusta. This game is frustrating enough with all of the incomplete basics of golf by the "wonderful" creators of this game. For example, giving you lateral hazard drops 480 yards from the pin and no matter where 90% of the time in the rough, NO ability to take an unplayable lie, no female avatars, the complete randomness of EVERY shot, regardless how many times you hit the meter in the same place top and bottom. Different results every time. Also the the complete randomness of the "power loss" in the amount and the effect. Different every time.
But, I digress. Its tough enough with all the handicaps mentioned above (along with my own handicap of sucking at a snap or reading a putt) but it is really disheartening when you set up a shot based on the max wind, and then just as you swing it goes up 2 more miles per hour! The difference in a 200 yard shot is 15-20 YARDS. Big problem at Augusta. (click on the pictures to enlarge)

Which reminds me..if I feel a wind gust more than the weather people said it would be, I must phone up to complain. If it should rain when they forecast a dry day...someone's going to pay!!!

The scores may be unrealistic, or even a joke but heyho, that's what we got.
Play well and enjoy your game everyone!
btw, not a game for snowflakes.

Well, Mr. Perfect, my post is not a complaint. Just an observation. Based on documented information. Stop bragging, we all know you play a perfect round every time, regardless of any conditions that may appear.Affo wrote: Mon Apr 12, 2021 12:09 pm Which reminds me..if I feel a wind gust more than the weather people said it would be, I must phone up to complain. I Agree with what you are saying if wind speed is going to be a factor it should be consistent every time you have a 10-12 mph wind and you adjust your shot it should travel the same distance no up or downhill in this game it does not

On a serious note, you don't get a constant wind in real life, that's the random factor. Without it, this game could end up shooting darts. I got burned in R1 I think on the 15th, wind changed slightly and I came up short in the water, trying to be too precise instead of aiming for the heart of the green where a slight change in wind wouldn't matter.
Just my opinion of course.

Re: Tournament Wind Speeds .vs Actual Wind Speeds
A wind set on 13 mph will probably play more like 15mph. If I'm playing any wind over 10mph I will often add an extra 2 mph to compensate and even thien I often find myself short of the target. I set many tours and will not set wind over 15 mph where there are trees and hazards.
One exception is St Andrews with very few trees and very wide fairways its sometime fun to go into Gusty which I was going to do in the final rounds of this months Open, how ever it was pointed out to me that we were trying to regulate the over the top wind and so not a good idea to make an exception even for St Andrews, I though the suggestion was valide and redid the two Rounds. I do feel when setting conditions that to set them extreme will spoil the not so skillfull players hole which is why I rarely use Stimp 9 and 14 the top players hit so close to the pin that such a high or low setting will not have much affect on them whilst a player putting 50-60 yards it could completely ruin there fun.

A 15 mph head wind will affect carry distance by about 33% more than a 15 mph tail wind. A head wind also creates a higher trajectory; a tail wind lowers it. That is correct physics.

Re: Tournament Wind Speeds .vs Actual Wind Speeds
When PP was putting this game together a lot of folks did suggest that the wind stop and carry the shot on the wind that was hit for the entire shotboxmaker111 wrote: Tue Apr 13, 2021 5:50 pm I Agree with what you are saying if wind speed is going to be a factor it should be consistent every time you have a 10-12 mph wind and you adjust your shot it should travel the same distance no up or downhill in this game it does not
but that did not happen as a lot of other good suggestions that were made, this game could have been so much more. it just did not get there.
