Thanks Dunc. I'm halfway through my 4 rounds at the moment and pleased to say I'm holding my own. I like the course, it looks and plays like a real course, theres no big suprises but it certainly isn't easy. Long holes (especially the par 5s) with very challenging greens and a great finishing hole.

I'm just glad that the local weather forecast for the course did not prove over demanding. This course didnt need unfair conditions to get the best out of it and well placed pins can make any course tricky. Along with the continental course on PGLS Tour I'm really enjoying my games this week. despite this unfinished game from the designers this is still the most realistic golf game on the market.

With my machine, which is close to the low end in terms of required/recommended specs for PG, the rendering was so stuttery and choppy that it was more than a little annoying. In one instance it cost me a stroke. The rest of the time I was able to play about as well as I would have normally (and actually had a pretty good round). The swing meter wasn't too bad most of the time, but it was glitchy/laggy enough that I made much heavier than usual use of the Amateur ability to abort a swing and retry; I don't want to think about how much worse that round would have been if I'd been Pro or above and didn't have that option.

This is the first course in recent memory where I've encountered these sorts of issues, and it will go on my short list of courses that are marginally unplayable until I get a better machine.

Did you consider leaving the game at the tee, then rebooting your computer. So others who may not know this about glitches that occur on a computer, a reboot can fix many of them with a fresh startup. Hope that helps.

I didn't try rebooting, but I did leave and restart the game. I also checked in Task Manager to make sure there wasn't anything running I'd forgotten about that was taking up a lot of CPU or memory.

After reading your reply (and noting that I have not rebooted the machine since playing the PGA18 round), I fired up PG and played a hole on each of two other courses I've played within the past week (Links at Bodega Harbour, and Royal Montreal (the current PGA 9 course)) and they played as usual without any of the choppiness or stuttering issues I was having on Congressional. Is Congressional a 3DG course? If so, that may have a lot to do with it.

With my computer being pretty low-end for this game, it's not surprising if there are a few courses where this sort of thing might happen. It's probably not an issue for anyone with a proper gaming rig, but any others running minimal machines may experience similar issues.

I looked at your Benchmarks. Yep. Very low for PG. I hope you are fortunate in the near future to acquire or build your gaming Rig.

Millions of people do not reboot their low-end rigs due to very slow start-ups. It may take 5 to 10 minutes for some people to reboot. However many people should reboot especially when Windows Updates download. I am sure you do the best you can with that computer. Good on you!
